Getting started with desktop and files
Your desktop is the main screen you see when your computer turns on. Think of it like a real desk where you keep things and put them away.
Step 1: Find your files
- Look for the folder icon on your desktop, dock, or taskbar.
- Open it to see places like Documents, Downloads, and Pictures.
- Double-click a folder to open it.
Step 2: Open the file you want
- Look at the file names carefully.
- Double-click the file to open it.
- If you open the wrong file, close it and go back to the folder.
Step 3: Create a new folder
- Right-click on an empty space in the folder window or on the desktop.
- Choose New Folder.
- Type a clear name and press Enter.
Tip: Use names like Photos 2025 or Important Documents so you can find things later.
Step 4: Move files into the right place
- Click and hold the file.
- Drag it into the folder you want.
