Easy Steps to Get Going Again

Simple steps to fix common computer and phone problems — you can do this!

Most common tech problems have a simple fix. Follow these steps and you will be up and running again soon.

Step 1: Try turning it off and on again

  1. Save any work you have open if you can.
  2. Press the power button to turn your device off.
  3. Wait 30 seconds, then press the power button to turn it back on.

This fixes most problems — it clears the device's memory and gives it a fresh start.

Step 2: Check your internet connection

  1. Look for the Wi-Fi icon at the bottom-right of your screen (Windows) or top-right (Mac or iPhone).
  2. If the icon shows no connection, click it and choose your Wi-Fi network or reconnect to Wireless@SGx.
  3. Type your Wi-Fi password if asked, then press Connect.

Step 3: Close a program that has stopped working

  1. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete (Windows) or Command + Option + Escape (Mac).
  2. Find the program that is not working in the list.
  3. Click the program name, then click "End Task" or "Force Quit".

Step 4: Check for updates

  1. Go to your device settings (the gear icon ⚙️).
  2. Look for "Update" or "Software Update".
  3. If an update is available, click "Install" and wait for it to finish.
