Helpful tech words
Open a plain-English term first if you need it
A secure online identity for supported services
MyDigital ID helps Malaysians sign in to supported online services and complete identity checks more safely. It is designed for online use and does not replace your physical MyKad for in-person matters.
Set it up on your phone
- Download the official MyDigital ID app.
- Register with your email address and confirm the OTP.
- Enter your personal details and MyKad number.
- Follow the identity check steps.
- Create a strong password.
Where it helps
- Logging in to supported portals
- Confirming identity during online transactions
- Reducing the number of usernames and passwords you need to remember
Safer habits
- Use only the official app or digital-id.my.
- Never approve a login you did not start yourself.
- Ignore message links asking you to “re-verify urgently”.
- Ask a trusted family member to help you compare the website address if unsure.
If a login page shows a QR code
- Open MyDigital ID on your phone.
- Scan only the QR code shown on the official portal.
- Confirm the action only if the service name looks right.
Tip: For any important service, start from the official department website first and then choose the MyDigital ID login from there.
Check the request before approving it
An identity app confirms who you are; it does not prove that every website asking for approval is trustworthy. Before approving a request, check:
- you started the sign-in yourself
- the service name matches the portal open on your other screen
- the request is for the action you intended
- nobody is asking you to read out an OTP, password, or approval code
Reject an unexpected request. A genuine service can let you start again from its official website.
If registration or verification fails
Follow the current prompts in the official app because required checks can change. Use clear lighting during any camera step, confirm that your entered details match your official identity record, and update the app before retrying. Do not install a second app sent through a chat message and do not pay an agent to complete remote verification.
If you replace or lose your phone
Secure the mobile number and email account associated with your identity first. Then follow recovery guidance from the official MyDigital ID website. Remove access from the old device when that option is available, especially if the phone was lost rather than deliberately replaced.
Current service availability and supported portals can change. Use digital-id.my as the starting point for official downloads, notices, and support information.
